Founder's Day: 100th Anniversary Celebration

On October 5, 2011, Ohio Dominican University will celebratethe 100th year of its foundation as a institution of higher learning. Here is the schedule:

  • 8:30-10:30AM, Brunch in The Catherine of Siena Room
  • 11:00AM Mass, Christ the King Chapel, followed by a ritualized celebration of our 100 years in the Colonial Room
  • Noon, Cookout on the lawn in front of Erskine Hall
  • 7:00PM, Concert by Fr. Jim Marchionda, OP in Christ the King Chapel

This seminar is a chance to read through Beyond Agreement: Interreligious Dialogue Amid Persistent Differences with the author, Scott Steinkerchner OP.  Beyond Agreement addresses the thorny question of how to make interreligious dialogue productive when the religious differences are so large that finding common ground seems unlikely. The book offers a way to think about interreligious dialogue that allows people to stay committed to their own truth as they have come to know it while being open to learning from other religions.

Essay Contest: What Makes for a Good Society?

What makes for a good society?

We are offering five first prizes of $100 each, encouraging ODU students to give us different answers to the question. Essays are to be emailed to the Center no later than October 31, 2011.
