Modernity and Our Troubled Natures
A lecture series on the core concept of what it means to be human—the question of human nature.
When: Tuesdays, September 18, 25, and October 2, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
Where: St. Martin de Porres Center (next to the sister's Motherhouse)
Who: All are welcome.
This is the first part of a program sponsored by the Dominican Professor, a position created by Ohio Dominican University "to extend discussions about human nature, the common good, justice, and truth from Ohio Dominican's core seminars to the entire campus community." Such discussions involve the whole Ohio Dominican community in the life of the mind. They signify the common endeavor of faculty who, through their scholarship, teaching, and service, act upon students in ways that open them to the broader, fuller world of ideas. In this way, they serve the liberating mission of the liberal arts.
There is no discipline in the university that does not grapple in some way with the question of human nature. For this reason, all are welcome and faculty from every discipline are encouraged to attend.
Sr. Ruth Caspar, O.P., Ph.D. will offer a response to each lecture.
